Currently, the number of small spaceñraft (SSC)
being launched grows quickly. However in the Russian and global
markets there are no space boosters having dimension necessary for
accomplishing the tasks of additional ascent to working orbits and
SSC interorbital transportation. FSUE KB Arsenal offers to create
TOR unified modular small space booster.
Main features of TOR booster concept
• a small space booster is to be created on the basis of existing
serially manufactured solid propellant rocket engine (SPRE) developed
by FSUE KB Arsenal;
• a booster is to include from one up to three SPRE (propulsion
modules), when different ways of their connection are possible;
• a booster is entirely self-sufficient and has no electric connections
with either a SSC or a carrier rocket;
• a booster is to provide interorbital transportation of micro,
nano and picosatellite, altitude variation in relation to the basic
orbit up to 10000-15000 km depending on the number of propulsion
modules and mass of SSC.
Primary goals
• additional ascent of a SSC to working orbits;
• transfer of a SSC from one working orbit to another;
• taking of a SSC or components of a spacecraft away its orbit after
flight program completion.
TOR booster competitive advantages
• high confirmed reliability: by the present time 78 engines of
such a kind have operated in space without any failure registered;
• small cost: due to use of the serial engine;
• small mass and small dimensions make it possible to launch TOR
booster together with any carrier rocket;
• self-sufficiency: adaptation of a SSC to a carrier-rocket is not
required.
